Rowton Castle Wedding Photography - sunset wedding portrait outside Rowton Castle with bride and groom

Was so excited when these awesome two booked me over 2 years ago to do their Rowton Castle Wedding Photography. I’d never done wedding photos at a castle before so was so excited. When I received Christian and Danielle’s day in detail form a phrase in it stuck out and made me smile straight away “We WILL be getting married outside!!” Loved both the optimism and determination in that sentence and their plans were in good faith! The day of the wedding proved perfect – not too hot and not too cold; one that was perfect for an outside wedding at a stunning 17th Century castle!

Bridal preparations were happening in the Turret Room (how cool!) and Danielle’s hair, makeup and dress transformed her into a princess fit to call this castle her home! Her daughter’s face watching Mummy dress was just the cutest thing in the world and her dress was equally as cute – a perfect little princess! Danielle’s bridesmaids’ dresses were a lovely deep purple colour and the bouquets and button holes were white and purple to match.

With the weather as beautiful as it was I could certainly understand why Christian and Danielle wanted their ceremony outside – the Linden Belvedere (so named after the lime tree – traditionally a lovers’ meeting point, and a location with a stunning view) is so romantic and imposing at the same time! The almost catwalk-length aisle from the castle itself to the Belvedere ensures that all eyes were on Danielle as she walked towards her soon-to-be husband. Many emotions were evident – happiness, nerves, excitement, love and the ceremony continued in the same vein, full of emotion.

One of my favourite photos to take throughout the day is one of the new ‘Mr & Mrs’ walking down the aisle after the ceremony and Christian and Danielle’s faces were full of pride and delight as they were offered reception drinks from Rowton Castle staff. With the beautiful weather, all their guests were able to enjoy drinks, nibbles ice-cream, bubbles and garden games on the manicured lawns.  The group photos look fantastic with the castle as the backdrop – I particularly enjoyed taking the photos with the groomsmen and bridesmaids – not sure Christian’s best man will ever let him forget that he beat him on the stag do!!! That medal made quite a few appearances throughout the day!

If the exterior of the castle was impressive then the interior was positively imposing! With magnificent mantelpieces, floor-to-ceiling windows and chandeliers, the Cardeston Suite looked amazing with the little touches added by the couple and a pianist tinkling away on the ivories was beautifully in keeping with the historic venue – although I’m not sure that Bohemian Rhapsody was too well-known in the 17th Century but it sure did ghet the guests going!! Full credit to them all for joining in so enthusiastically – got some cracking shots of the full on singsong! The speeches were touching, heartfelt and hilarious in equal measure (it will take a while for me to forget about the picture of Christian in his mankini….!) and once the cake was cut it was party time!

Christian and Danielle were keen to use the stunning grounds as much as possible for photographs so I took an opportunity in between dances to take them for a quick walk around the grounds to take some awesome shots with the castle in the background – a fairytale ending to a fairytale wedding! If you’re interested in booking me for Rowton Castle Wedding Photography then please don’t hesitate to get in touch here.
