My day as a Derbyshire wedding photographer – Emma & Simon’s beautiful wedding day

2019! Bring. It. On! First wedding of the year, and if it is to set the tone for the rest of the year then it’s going to be one hell of a year!! Emma & Simon are such an amazing couple, perfect for one another, and easygoing and adventurous in equal measure! Their main criteria for their pre-wedding shoot AND wedding location appeared to be where was close to any opportunity for outdoor pursuits, for Simon in particular! But I wasn’t complaining, as it meant that my 2019 was starting out at Donington Park Farm house, one of my favourite venues, working with the awesome people who work there AND being surrounded by the wonderful family and friends of the happy couple – happy days!

Bridal and groom wedding prep were both taking place at Donington Park Farm house which meant that I could capture a bit of both – the morning had everything, plenty of laughter, a few nerves, a few tears, a few mini sausages and a few quick gulps of Gaviscon too. The threshing barn looked amazing as Simon greeted all his guests and waiting eagerly at the top of the aisle for his wife-to-be. Flanked by both her brother and mum, Emma looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, and I think it’s safe to say that Simon only just managed to keep his emotions from getting the better of him. The ceremony itself was very romantic and the smiles on both their faces were just so cute to see, properly excited the pair of them were!!

Afterwards, the couple and their guests made use of the bar area for the drinks reception, and then braved the January weather for some outdoor group shots followed by some gorgeous couple shots around the beautiful grounds of Park Farm house. Following this, the guests got the opportunity to really see all the personal touches that the couple had added to the pigsties for the wedding breakfast, from the table names to decorations, it really did scream Emma and Simon as a couple! The newly married Mr & Mrs Morris gave a joint speech, giving each other plenty of banter as well as plenty of adoration in evidence! Simon’s best man gave his speech which didn’t cause Simon TOO much embarrassment (apart from an amazing story about a driving incident involving Simons mum’s car, soo funny) and then it was time to party!

With their guests enjoying themselves, I managed to grab Emma & Simon and a bunch of their crazy friends for a couple of minutes before the cake cutting, to head outside into the dark, for some sparkler shots which were extremely fun. After lots more fun cutting the cake, it was time for the newlyweds to open the dance floor with their first dance. I’m not sure I’ve seen a dancefloor quite as epic as Emma & Simon’s for a long while, the party was bouncing the whole night, celebrating the marriage of Mr & Mrs Morris, balloons everywhere, wresting groom and bridesmaid and a big shout to the epic band – The Indie Killers.

Emma & Simon, you guys were an absolute pleasure to capture, and it really was a fantastic start to my 2019 weddings so thank you!! I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
