The Waterfront Wedding Photography
What a scorcher Katie & Richard’s day was from start to finish – made it ideal for me to capture some epic Waterfront wedding photography for them! The day started off mega busy – there was so much going on during bridal prep I don’t think I put my camera down once. The house was full of people so plenty of comings and goings, the gorgeous pageboy, flower girl and bridesmaids, add in two or three dogs and then a pony on the patio (and then a dog, on a pony, on the patio!!)….it really was full of photo opportunities!! It was so lovely to see how all of Katie’s family and friends were as excited as the bride was for the day to start, and with the sun shining beautifully it promised to be a wonderful day. My second shooter had a slightly more relaxed start to the day, capturing groom prep with Richard and his family and friends. It was definitely too hot for too much activity – even with the help of a fan (and a bit of bubbly!) I did feel a bit sorry for the men all suited and booted!
The church at Donisthorpe was beautifully decorated with flowers and was packed with the bride and groom’s family and friends by the time Katie arrived. Accompanied down the aisle by her mother, bridesmaids, page boy and flower girl, Katie looked every bit the beautiful bride. The ceremony was beautiful – I just love the photos during the newlywed’s blessing where Katie’s veil is shown in it’s true glory and the stained glass windows make it so atmospheric too.
With the weather as stunning as it was, we made the most of the beautiful church grounds for a great confetti shot and some couple shots too. Then it was time for the wedding party to head over to the Waterfront at Barton Marina in their classic cars. You are always welcomed warmly at the Waterfront and Katie & Richard enjoyed some time with their guests during the drinks reception and then it was time for them to be announced into the Crow’s Nest room as Mr & Mrs! The room was beautifully decorated, it really did look fit for royalty with plenty of glitz and glamour and the wedding breakfast was the usual high quality food and service. The speeches followed, which were short but heartfelt and sweet from the mother of the bride, groom and best man.
One of my favourite things about The Waterfront wedding photography is the opportunity it gives couples to use the marina for gorgeous photo opportunities – and well-deserved time away from guests to reflect on what an amazing day they were having. Katie & Richard really lucked out with the weather, the sunset at the time we headed out for couple portraits was just incredible, making for some epic photographs. Then it was time to head back inside to cut the cake AND the big reveal – Katie is pregnant and they revealed to all their guests by popping a balloon filled with lots of pink ticker tape that they are expecting …a gorgeous baby girl (congratulations guys!!!) First dance was followed by Katie & Richard’s guests all joining them on the dancefloor to dance the night away.
Katie & Richard, I hope you love the photographs as much as I do and that they bring back plenty of happy memories of your special day. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and all the best for your upcoming arrival!
