I always love the opportunity to explore wedding venues new to me, and so I was very much looking forward to Chris & Catherine’s wedding at The Cowshed at Woodhall Farm. The venue describes itself as a place for DIY weddings, where you can put your own stamp on it to create your own magical, unique day – and it’s safe to say that Catherine & Chris did exactly that! My day started with the bridal prep, close to the venue, and with plenty of people around to create a real buzz of an atmosphere. Catherine had 6 bridesmaids, each with their dress individualised perfectly for them, and the dress Catherine had chosen fit the natural, rustic theme of the wedding – and she looked absolutely stunning in it!
Meanwhile, Chris was busy welcoming the guests to the stunning venue, and helping direct people down to the outdoor area where the wedding ceremony was going to take place. There was a couple of small showers and it was touch and go about having the cermony outside, but the weather held and everyone was excitingly waiting for the arrival of the bride. The bridesmaids looked like beautiful tree fairies as they arrived and walked down the aisle, and Catherine and her father were full of smiles and emotions as they walked down.
Chris & Catherine’s faces say it all during the ceremony – love, happiness and joy. The guests looked delighted to be there to celebrate with them and after they were announced as husband and wife, the whole group followed them down to the drinks reception in the grounds of Woodhall Farm. I absolutely love scoping out areas of a venue for couple portraits and so while their friends and family were chilling out, we were able to explore a bit and capture some beautiful shots. It was then time for the wedding breakfast and the rustic nature of the venue really shone with the greenery and simple decorations – it really didn’t need much dressing at all. Following the meal it was time for the speeches – I think Chris wins the prize for having the most best men I’ve ever seen – he had five of them, and I am sure you can all imagine just how much ribbing and micky taking he had to endure…about five times the usual I think you could say!
The grounds of Woodhall Farm are big enough to offer plenty of outdoor space for garden games, and Chris & Catherine’s guests entered into the spirit of it all…plenty of competitive boules, table tennis, jenga, you name it, competitions were going on! We were able to get some more couple shots and, with the sun coming out, there was the opportunity for absolutely gorgeous sunset photos, some of my favourite! It was then time for the cake to be cut, the first dance to be held and then the night was most definitely danced away!
Catherine & Chris – thank you for introducing me to The Cowshed at Woodhall Farm, such a awesome venue, and thank you so much for being so welcoming and just generally wonderful the whole day – I had an absolute blast, and I know you will have a lifetime of happiness together 🙂
