I’m sure lots of people love their job but honestly every wedding I do I just enjoy more and more and if every wedding was like this one with the lovely people involved then I think I’d be a very happy wedding photographer indeed.
This wedding started capturing the details and morning fun with Lucy, her bridesmaids, mum and dad and a few other family members. They had managed to rent a lovely cottage called The Croft a short way from St Mary’s Church in Rolleston On Dove where they were having the ceremony. With such a big place and so many people there, it was great to wander round and capture the story of the wedding morning unfolding. Meanwhile my 2nd photographer was with Bill and his 2 best men (his big brothers!!) grabbing the story from their perspective. Having a 2nd photographer really helps to cover different parts of the day and helps capture all the different candid moments that you might not have been aware of! Lucy had her hair beautifully done by Kayley Read and makeup was done by the awesome Penelope from The Frangipani Tree. It was a pretty wet start to the day but I did a little rain dance and when it was time to head to the church the rain stopped! I’m sure Bill won’t mind me saying but Lucy looked absolutely stunning and his face after he saw her walking down the aisle was like the cat that got the cream!
Ian the Reverend is one of the best around and the service was full of love, smiles and laughter. I think my favourite point was at the end of the confetti walk when he ran over and chucked pretty much a whole basket of confetti over them both! So after a few group shots and portraits around the beautiful church, they headed over for the reception at the stunning Sutton Bonington Hall in Loughborough and travelled in style in a beautiful car from Wedding cars of Derby.
The Hall is a Grade II Queen Anne period country property and wedding venue situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Sutton Bonington, and close to the borders of Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. This enchanting hall is available on an exclusive use and only for a select number of days each year for weddings. The Hall offers four large Reception Rooms which all have bags of character and perfect to capture great wedding photography. Lucy and Bill asked if I could try and produce a shot in one of the rooms that was a bit moody, modern and original. It took a little while to set it up but everyone loved the shot and said it was definitely worth the wait. There are also six classically designed Bedrooms, each with individual Bathrooms overlooking magnificent gardens and landscaped parkland. Being a wedding Photographer at Sutton Bonington Hall was a great pleasure and the grounds also offer a great space for guests to enjoy, allowing for great candid wedding photography as well as beautiful bride and groom portraits.
The wedding breakfast was held in the large conservatory which provided beautiful evening light, and after some extremely funny and emotional speeches, the dance floor was opened. It was a surprise to most to see Bill and Lucy perform an awesome choreographed first dance with Bill working those hips like a latino!! We then headed outside for some drunken (but safe!) sparkler fun and I grabbed a couple of the less drunk guests to help with a surprise photo outside. The band then took over the party and I left with everyone having a great time!
I had such a great day and really feel like I could call Lucy & Bill my friends now, here’s a slideshow of all the highlights and a few pictures of the day and then a link to the full gallery underneath. If you like the idea of having Sutton Bonington Hall as your wedding venue then get in touch with them asap as they only have a select few weddings there a year. If you like my style of documentary storytelling wedding photography but with a creative twist and would like me to capture your wedding then get in touch here, thanks and hope you enjoy.
