It’s always a privilege to be asked to be the wedding photographer at anyone’s wedding but when it’s two of your best friends that you’ve known since University then it’s even more of an honour. You get the best seat in the house to be able to watch and then share all the key moments from the day.
Annabel and Simeon’s day started with a little bit of rain and it pretty much continued throughout the day. But that didn’t stop them, and all their guests from having an absolute epic day! Everyone had brollies at the ready and the rain actually became part of the story and uniqueness of the day! Nobody’s spirit was dampened and there was nothing that was going to take the smile off both their faces!
I met up with Annabel, her bridesmaids and her awesome mum at the hotel in the morning. Bridal prep is one of my favourite times of the wedding day. You get to witness the slow increase in both excitement and nerves as the morning unfolds with hair and make-up, dresses and shoes and of course a bit of champagne! Before I left for the church we had chance for a couple of group shots and a beautiful portrait of Annabel looking stunning in the hotel lobby.
I arrived at the church to lots more rain which enabled me to get some great shots of all the guests running for cover. Sim was looking a bit nervous waiting for his bride-to-be but had a great best man and group of ushers to keep him calm and laughing. I don’t think Annabel expected to get emotional when she arrived at church but I think the occasion got the better of her and when they both saw each other it made for such a great shot and one of my favourites from the day!
After a beautiful ceremony and more rain, we made our way to the reception which was being held at a family friend’s farm, with a marquee and lovely boat house on the edge of a gorgeous lake! At this point Annabel’s extremely generous mum had put on enough alcohol to last everyone throughout the day and night (and there was a lot of alcohol consumed!)
Some of my favourite highlights from the rest of the day have to be the outrageously funny and emotional speeches, Annabel pouring a better pint than Sim, witnessing every table standing up on their chairs to do at least one Jagerbomb (even all the oldies), Paul the MC doing an immense worm on the dance floor, doing a selfie with nearly everyone on the dance floor, 2 of my friends falling into the lake (they did not smell nice, and gutted I missed it with the camera), Confetti on the dance floor, did I mention I liked the dance floor!! All in all it was one hell of a party. Apologies now for the huge amount of photos in the gallery but I don’t normally get a bit tipsy while at a wedding and stay until 1am taking photos!! Also if you were a guest at the wedding and feel a little worried about seeing yourself drunk on the dance floor, then you probably want to look away now as there are some crackers!! I put some of me in there too not looking so great to make it fair!!
Here’s a few pictures of the day followed by the awesome slideshow and then a link to the full gallery underneath. If you like my style of wedding photography and would like me to capture your wedding and party then get in touch here, thanks and hope you enjoy.
