This beautiful rustic winter wedding was full of individual touches, all dreamt up and planned by the awesome couple Jess & Jack – I had such an amazing time shooting their wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse. The weather was crisp but dry and bright and the atmosphere was one of excitement and nerves when I arrived to capture Jess’s bridal preparations. The rustic winter theme was throughout the day, picked up beautifully in the bouquets – gorgeous reds and oranges, bundled with pinecones to give it a real Christmassy feel! It was a proper family affair as Jess’s three sisters made up three of her five bridesmaids, and her Dad looked so proud when preparing himself to walk with them all down the aisle. Jack was looking incredibly dapper in his smart blue suit at the top of the aisle and the look on his face when he saw his bride was priceless. The barn was decorated with romantic fairy lights and the ceremony was full of lots of laughter and happy tears. Soon, the new Mr & Mrs Oliver walked down the aisle as husband and wife and it was time for the happy couple to greet their guests and make use of the private enclosed courtyard for canapes and group shots!
With it being a winter afternoon wedding, the light was already beginning to fade by this point so we took the opportunity for some photos of Jess & Jack in the area surrounding Park Farmhouse – luckily they were both up for climbing stiles and walking across fields so we got some awesome shots with an absolutely gorgeous sunset. Back at the venue it was time for a quaint afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast (the cakes were AMAZING!) and then the speeches. Jess’s dad, Jack, his best man Rich and Jess all spoke so well, with plenty of memories being shared and lots of laughs too!
With evening guests arriving, the amazing cheese wedding cake was revealed and it was soon time to cut it (soooo much cheese!!!) Jess & Jack then took to the dancefloor for their first dance – and an awesome balloon release too. To get all the guests in the dancing mood Jess & Jack had arranged a ‘salsa battle’ with professional dancers – I’ve not seen this at a wedding before but it was awesome – it really got everyone in the partying mood, and gave me plenty of opportunity for some epic dance shots too!! With the party well and truly started the evening reception was just absolutely fab – there was plenty of dancing, drinking, and (my personal favourite) plenty of glitter and face paints….I *may* have fully entered into the spirit of this and ended up completely sparkly!! Which leads nicely to the end of my night – a really fun sparkler shot with lots of guests and Jess & Jack running the gauntlet! An awesome finish to an awesome day – congratulations Jess & Jack and thanks for having me!!
