Squeezed in between the festivities of Christmas and New Year, Alex and Lucy had booked me for their Shustoke Barn Wedding Photography and boy was I glad that they had. What an awesome day, with a fab couple and wicked family & friends. My day started over at the Belfry, where both the Bride’s Squad and the Groom’s Tribe were all getting ready for the big day. Plenty of fun and laughter was had, with both Alex & Lucy being surrounded by family and friends who clearly all knew them very well! In no time at all, it was time for the men to head over to Shustoke Barn in their Range Rover Limo to greet their guests, and await the arrival of Lucy and the bridal party.
Shustoke Barn always looks so pretty whenever I go there, but with twinkly fairy lights and additional Christmas decorations, it really looked magical for Alex & Lucy. The exposed red brick, traditional flagstone flooring and oak beams ooze style and charm and the barn itself quickly filled up with Alex & Lucy’s loved ones ready for the arrival of the bride. Lucy looked absolutely stunning walking down the aisle behind her bridesmaids, with her dress elegantly understated flowing beautifully as she walked towards Alex. With contributions from different members of the wedding party the ceremony was incredibly personalised and emotional. Alex & Lucy were announced as Mr & Mrs Broomfield and their triumphant walk down the aisle demonstrated how perfect they are for each other. With the formalities completed, Alex and Lucy had time to welcome their guests as newlyweds, and with the weather cold but dry, we took the opportunity to take some photographs in the stunning scenery surrounding Shustoke – I really do love Shustoke Barn Wedding Photography, the venue provides so many different backdrops it is a photographer’s dream. The wedding team worked their magic and transformed the ceremony room to an amazing wedding breakfast venue. Clean crisp linen with winter greenery and the odd art-deco copper decoration really all had the wow factor for the guests when the newlyweds were announced into the room. The couple had opted against a traditional long top table, which really gave the whole affair a much more intimate and relaxed feel. And it seemed to make the speeches all the more heartfelt (and hilarious!) with plenty of stories from the couple’s past!
With the evening drawing in Alex & Lucy managed to sneak away to make the most of a gorgeous sunset that was timed to perfection, and with a bit of furniture removal, we captured some cool silhouette shots framed by two trees which looked like they had been there since the start of time! Then it was time for the cake ‘cutting’…or should I say the wedding donut pyramid cutting! They smelled sooooo good! With that, the first dance opened the dance floor and, thanks to the awesome band, the party continued well into the night. Lucy & Alex, it was an absolute privilege to capture your Shustoke Barn Wedding Photography and I hope you love the photos as much as I do. You put on a spectacular wedding, I really felt part of it, and you absolutely belong together. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Broomfield!

Absolutely stunning photography of what looks to be an amazing venue, Gareth! Fantastic work.
Shustoke Barn is a beautiful venue, and it sounds like Alex and Lucy had a truly magical wedding there. The twinkly fairy lights and additional Christmas decorations really set the scene for a winter wonderland wedding, and the exposed red brick, traditional flagstone flooring and oak beams added to the rustic charm of the barn. I love that Lucy’s dress was elegantly understated, and that the ceremony was incredibly personalized and emotional. It’s so special when the wedding party is able to contribute to the ceremony, and it sounds like Alex and Lucy’s loved ones really made their day extra special.
