HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thanks to Luke & Emily I was able to bring in the new year in great style – a party to end all parties at Alrewas Hayes! Luke & Emily’s black tie New Year’s Eve wedding was absolutely epic, from start to finish – I don’t think I was the only one who didn’t want it to end!
I always absolutely love heading to Alrewas Hayes for a wedding, and arriving down the sweeping drive to the beautiful country house is a sight I will never tire of. My first port of call was to the bridal suite to capture the morning’s preparations which was in full swing when I arrived. With 6 bridesmaids it was a busy morning for hair and make up but everything was done with such humour and excitement it was a pleasure to be part of it. The beauty of this wedding venue also, is that the groom can also get ready here, so I was able to head over to meet up with Luke, his two best men, his five ushers and both too – another busy room!
Emily had been busy on pinterest and, as with all my brides, we had gone through quite a long list of important shots that she wanted capturing on the day. I knew it was important to her that photos were taken of her bridesmaids seeing her in her dress fully ready, and then to capture her dad seeing her too. I absolutely love these shots- particularly the touching one where her dad had to take a few moments outside to compose himself before he came in the room.
With the guests seated in the ceremony room, the bridesmaids led the way for Emily & her dad down the aisle, and I think it’s fair to say that Luke was fairly emotional throughout the whole thing! I don’t blame him though, Emily really did look absolutely stunning, and the love they have for each other was evident throughout the whole service, and throughout the whole day.
After the cermeony the weather was mild enough for the newlyweds to greet their guests outside in the courtyard for their drinks reception, and for group shots to be taken also (we managed to squeeze in a few with various family dogs too who were all on their best behaviour). We also had lots of fun with the wedding party outside the main house – I’m not sure how much Emily trusted the groomsmen to be picking her up though!! Another reason I love Alrewas Hayes is that the grounds give ample opportunity for couple shots – especially when I’ve got a couple as photogenic as Luke & Emily!
The marquee was set up absolutely beautifully, I always love capturing the moment the happy couple are announced to the room before the meal, I still remember the feeling from my wedding day and I want to give my couple memories of that moment for the rest of their lives. I love the layout they had in the room and where they had positioned the top table was perfect. The meal was absolutely fantastic, followed by the speeches which were made by Emily’s dad, Luke, his two best men and Emily’s maid of honour (who played a great game with the couple – definitely one to steal if you’re best man/maid of honour at a wedding anytime soon with lots of Jager consumed!)
And then to be honest, the evening kicked off and absolutely rocked for the rest of the night! It was a blur of dancing, drinking, cake cutting, laughing, sparkler shots, trousers ripping (yep really!), bongos and saxophones. Counting down to midnight to see in 2020 watching the happy couple being surrounded by their nearest and dearest is a memory I will keep with me for a long time. Well done Emily & Luke, your wedding was an absolutely EPIC way to finish off my 2019 weddings – you guys are just perfect for each other, your day was perfect and I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
