I think it’s safe to say that Gareth & Jayne’s day was most definitely a scorching hot bit of Alrewas Hayes wedding photography!! When it’s suncream weather before I even get to bridal prep you know it’s going to be an absolutely beautiful day and the sun was shining bright when I arrived at Jayne’s parent’s house. Jayne had already been to the salon for her hair and the make up artist was busy styling the rest of the bridal party. Bridal prep is one of my favourite times of a wedding, lots of excitement, plenty of last-minute organisations and lots of emotion. It’s a special moment for the bride and her parents and it was lovely that Jayne wanted a specific photo of her and her dad at the front of the house, to recreate one that her parents had taken on her wedding day years ago, and Jayne’s grandparents were with her, as a beautiful photograph on her gorgeous bouquet of pastel spring flowers which fit with the colour scheme for the day. Meanwhile, my second photographer was busy capturing Gareth and his groomsmen getting ready at a local pub, looking dapper in their suits and ties (thank goodness for YouTube ay – love the photos of them all crowded an instructional video of how to tie a wedding tie!!)
It’s fair to say that when Gareth arrived at Alrewas Hayes he was a bit nervous, but he was the perfect host in welcoming his family and friends, who all gathered in the ceremony room awaiting the arrival of the bride. Jayne looked absolutely stunning arriving in style in a vintage wedding car and her dad couldn’t have looked more proud as he walked her down the aisle. Gareth’s proud face when he saw his soon-to-be wife was a picture too, I love witnessing this part of a wedding, when all the plans and arrangements have been made and the real reason for everyone being there begins. The ceremony was beautiful, personal and emotional for the couple and guests alike and there was plenty of applause when Gareth & Jayne were announced as the new Mr & Mrs Burnett.
After the ceremony it was back out into sun for drinks and nibbles, as ever the food was amazing by Alrewas Hayes. When I first met up with Gareth & Jayne they had made it clear that whilst it was their special day, they were also really keen to make the day a fun event for their guests too, and so there was loads going on for them all which was really thoughtful of them. The magician they hired was amazing, I always love capturing the reactions that people pull with magic tricks! After the drinks reception, the newlyweds got a chance to have a bit of time on their own for some lovely couple shots – with the weather being so hot we managed to find some shade in front of the house at Alrewas Hayes which always looks amazing for weddings. In fact, it worked so well we also did the wedding party shots there which had lots of hilarious moments (mainly because all Gareth and Jayne’s friends are just such a laugh!) In particular I love the shots of when Gareth’s brother picked up Jayne and then the bridesmaids tried to get their own back by trying to pick Gareth up! Both the stag and hen parties also had some photos taken at that point, with one poor unfortunate guest ended up having nearly all the ladies’ handbags to look after…. he pulled it off though!
Gareth & Jayne made the decision to have their speeches before their food, to ensure that everyone could enjoy their meals without nerves! There was the usual mixture of emotional tears and laughter alike and what shone through all three of the speeches was the love that Jayne & Gareth have for each other, as well as the fondness that all their guests feel for them as a couple. They truly are perfect for each other! As with all my weddings, I never like to take my couples off for hours on end to make sure they don’t feel like they are missing out on their party and Gareth and Jayne were no different. We made sure that we had a few short couple shots throughout the day to maximise the weather and the stunning backdrops that I love about Alrewas Hayes wedding photography!
After playing during the wedding, the three brothers from the awesome band Gareth & Jayne had hired had a bit of downtime before the evening party, and I managed to get a funny shot of them napping before their second set! They really were awesome and the party was rocking which continued late into the evening, with crazy dancing, dance-offs and a really cool vibe, with Jayne centre stage for most of the night. Just when the party couldn’t get any better, the couple had arranged for a fireworks display to conclude their absolutely magical day.
Gareth & Jayne, the fact that your guests were all so kind, funny and welcoming just reflects you guys as people and your personalities. I absolutely loved capturing your Alrewas Hayes wedding photography and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together; you absolutely nailed your wedding day!!
