So this was one of my first Tuesday weddings for quite a while and I did wonder if that would make it a less extravagant, more tame affair….but this was Luke & Emma’s big day, and boy did they make sure it was an absolutely awesome one. From the moment I arrived at the bridal prep I was surrounded by happy, smiley, warm and welcoming people, and that didn’t stop the whole day. Honestly guys, your friends and family were just fab, from start to finish! With 5 bridesmaids and a gorgeous flower girl getting ready altogether, it was a busy morning, with plenty of jokes and giggles, but I think my some of my favourite images from Emma’s parents’ house are the ones of her getting her make up done – her eyes look so stunning, a photographer’s dream! The dress reveal photos shows all the beautiful emotions that were happening, Emma’s dad desperately trying to hold it together seeing his daughter in her wedding dress is a moment that always reminds me how important it is to capture – memories made right there.
I really LOVE capturing Shustoke wedding photography, and in the sunshine that day the venue looked absolutely a.maz.ing! When we arrived there, Luke and his groomsmen were inside the beautifully decorated venue eagerly anticipating the arrival of the bridal party. We had a couple of minutes before Emma arrived so we took the opportunity to take some photos of the bridal party. Emma’s sister, Katie entered into the spirit so much that we coined it “The Katie pose”, which was referred to throughout the day during group photos (check out the group photos in the cornfield for some classic poses!)
Emma & Luke’s wedding ceremony was just beautiful. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple smile so much while saying their vows, and throughout the whole service. They are so clearly perfect for each other, and so in love, and they are such nice people too – my couples really are the best! With Emma & Luke announced as husband and wife it was time for them to run the gauntlet of the confetti tunnel and then relax with their guests in the courtyard at Shustoke during the drinks reception. The weather was just perfect and it made the whole day seem relaxed and chilled.
The Shustoke wedding team worked their magic, transforming the barn ready for the wedding breakfast, and Emma & Luke had really gone to town with their theme, with different places around the world for each table, with favours matching the place too. With all their guests seated the new Mr & Mrs were ready to head in. Just before they entered the barn there was a beautiful beam of light that hit them, and the photo I captured of them having a quick kiss is one of my favourites. The food at Shustoke is always spectacular and the atmosphere was really buzzing during the wedding breakfast. The speeches followed, full of emotion and love and laughter and embarrassment!! but again, it just shone through how perfect Emma & Luke are for each other, and how much love their family and friends have for them as a couple too.
It was then time to have some fun – Emma & Luke had specifically said they wanted to have fun with some wedding party shots, with nothing too posed or formal, so the happy couple, bridesmaids and groomsmen all headed over into a cornfield and we did just that (plenty striking of a ‘Katie pose’!!) Everyone there was just up for a laugh, not taking themselves too seriously and happy to make a bit of a fool of themselves, and the photos we got are awesome, ones to really treasure. I got some pretty epic ones of Emma & Luke by themselves too – even if we did have to be told to be serious for a minute by their videographer (a friend of Emma’s, who was also up for a laugh but understandably wanted at least SOME footage of Emma & Luke not bursting into laughter!)
Heading back to Shustoke it was time for the party to start in the barn, with the first dance and then lots and LOTS of dancing. Emma & Luke, your day kicked off the start of the crazy season for me and you really did it in style! I still remember it so vividly – you had put so much thought into the day, the decorations, making sure the guests had an awesome time, literally everything, but what shines out for me is your smiles. Your cheeks must have hurt by the end of the day because you two were just some of the happiest people I have ever seen – all day!! You are perfect for each other and I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Thanks so much for just being awesome, and having the best family and friends anyone could wish for!
