Laura & David’s gorgeous wedding day – Derbyshire barn wedding photography

Absolutely LOVED capturing Laura & David’s Derbyshire barn wedding photography at Park Farmhouse for LOTS of reasons. First off, Laura & David are literally some of the nicest people I’ve met, so smiley, full of laughs and definitely don’t take themselves too seriously. Secondly, their family are bloomin’ awesome! Their sons and daughter are an absolute credit to them both and I was made to feel so welcome throughout the whole day by all their friends and family. And lastly, capturing their Derbyshire barn wedding photography on 9th August 2018 at Park Farmhouse meant that I was spending my 10th Wedding Anniversary back at the venue where my wife and I got married (it’s okay, my wife was fine with it, and we’re having a belated spa break now we’re not in the crazy wedding season!!) I absolutely love Park Farmhouse, the exposed brickwork and rustic beams, the endless opportunities for awesome photographs, but also for the amazing team they’ve got there, they care so much about their couples and Laura & David were looked after amazingly throughout the whole day.

My day started capturing bridal prep with Laura, her bridesmaids and her gorgeous page boy and ringbearer. So much laughter and fun throughout the morning and all incredibly well organised with no last-minute changes to the plan – very rare that this happens! Laura & her team headed off to the venue and I was able to capture some photos of the beautiful Threshing Barn (so many fairy lights!) and David looking nervous and excited in equal measure. Seeing their page boy and ring bearer walking down the aisle set David off straight away, and it’s fair to say the whole ceremony was an emotional affair with plenty of happy tears. I’m always very impressed by the people who do readings at weddings and two of Laura & David’s bridesmaids stood at the front and delivered such heartfelt and emotional pieces – cue more tears!

Following the ceremony Laura and David walked through a VERY impressive confetti tunnel (you can never have enough confetti in my opinion!) After group shots the newlyweds took to their vintage VW and headed to the cornfields for some couple shots and, more importantly, a brief time alone together to take stock of their awesome wedding day so far! Heading back to the venue, Laura & David enjoyed time with their guests, as well as using the various points around the venue for quick shots – kudos to Laura for braving the spiral staircase in her dress….and for allowing the groomsmen to lift her (2nd time much more successful eh guys!) Greeting all their guests into the pigsties for their wedding breakfast, Laura & David were then welcomed with a standing ovation to the top table and the food was served.

The speeches were made after the meal, with the three traditional ones and also the maid-of-honour making a speech as well as Laura giving their wedding party their gifts. When evening guests arrived, it was time to cut the cake, and have the first dance – absolutely love the shots of the balloon shower during that. Laura & David then partied the night away with their guests in one of the best wedding venues Derbyshire has to offer (not that I’m biased or anything!) I can still vividly remember standing back with my wife during our evening reception and just watching all our family and friends tearing up the dancefloor and I feel honoured to have been capturing those moments for Laura & David 10 years on.

Laura and David, you really are an amazing couple, and an awesome family – I know you will have many years of happiness together and I want to thank you for asking me to capture your Derbyshire barn wedding photography, I had an absolute blast! Congratulations!!
