Heidi & Mark’s Blackbrook House Wedding

If I had to sum this Blackbrook House Wedding up in one word, that word would be STYLE! Heidi & Mark just absolutely ooze style from the moment you meet them, and they had taken so much care during the wedding planning, that not one little detail was forgotten. Granted, the setting of Blackbrook definitely lended itself to such a stylish wedding – the Derbyshire wedding venue is certainly not lacking in its own stylish ways that’s for sure. From the gorgeous suites where both parties can get ready in the morning to the downstairs setting of the ceremony and reception (and awesome party in the evening!) the venue really did match Heidi & Mark down to a tee! Heidi & Mark had chosen a red and white theme for their wedding which I always absolutely love (definitely not JUST because it was the colour scheme at my wedding!!) as it always gives such vibrant colours – the flowers, the contrast between the bridesmaids dresses and the brides, the bowties and all the many, many details that the couple had spent hours in preparing.

Blackbrook House Wedding team did Heidi & Mark proud in the morning, not just helping dress the venue absolutely beautifully but also providing breakfasts fit for champions for both the bridal party and the groomsmen, the food just seemed to just keep coming! Having space to get ready at the venue, in such grand rooms seemed to take the stress out of preparation and both sides were incredibly calm and excited in the morning (although again, that could be testament to the amount of planning that had been done prior to the day – there was no need for stress as it had all been taken care of!) so very quickly it was time for the guests to arrive and for the bride to make her entrance.

The ceremony was beautiful with readings by family & friends as well as poignant songs which definitely got the emotions flowing. With the rings exchanged, vows completed and register signed it was time for a victory parade down the aisle. This continued out the front door for Heidi & Mark to complete possibly the longest confetti tunnel I have ever encountered, got some awesome shots during that! The beauty of having a Blackbrook House wedding really came into play at this point as guests were able to enjoy all the delights that the venue has to offer – beautiful grounds outside and lots of space inside – to grab that all important G&T (check out the newlywed’s gin bar, it was AMAZING!)

The red & white theme was continued for the wedding breakfast with all the table decorations and chairs decorated beautifully. The new Mr & Mrs Cambridge entered the room at Blackbrook House to rapturous applause and Heidi was quickly presented with a ‘bridal bib’ – her dress looked absolutely amazing so I’m not surprised that her family were keen to make sure it stayed that way!! Heidi & Mark had made the (in my opinion, sensible!) decision to have the speeches before the wedding breakfast which were full of emotion and lots and lots of laughter! The best man had an ingenious way of making sure people paid attention to his speech – by dropping some of Mark’s song titles into his speech and offering a bottle of champagne to anyone who spotted them all! The Blackbrook House wedding team did an absolutely amazing job with the food and it seemed like from then on, the atmosphere just got more and more like a party!!

After the wedding breakfast, I stole Heidi & Mark away from their guests for a little bit to get some amazing couple shots of them. They really are a classy couple and I am so glad they were up for having lots of photographs as they were great in front of the camera. We had a bit of fun with a few smoke bombs, enormous trees and a pretty cool sunset, and then it was time to head back for the party to really start. On Heidi & Mark’s detail sheet they were clear about one thing – they wanted photos of people having fun…with plenty of drunken photos too! Luckily the drunken photos were after the cake cutting (of an amazing cake!) and the first dance, but as soon as the dance floor was open, bam, it was absolutely jumping for the rest of the night thanks to the awesome live band!

It was my first time shooting a Blackbrook House wedding and the team there were fantastic, I sincerely hope to be back there sometime in the near future! Heidi & Mark were such a great couple to capture, and their friends and family were just so full of fun and energy that it was an absolute pleasure to be part of their wedding.  Mr & Mrs Cambridge, your planning and preparation really really paid off, it was an awesome day full of awesome people – thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of it!
