Emma & Joe’s gorgeous outdoor wedding – Hothorpe Hall wedding photography

I always jump at the chance to capture new venues and The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall was my destination for Emma & Joe’s wedding. In addition, I was particularly looking forward to this wedding because the bride and groom had booked me as they had attended a wedding I had shot a couple of years ago (Amy & Josh) so there would be plenty of familiar faces to catch up with! The couple had bravely opted for an outdoor ceremony, and were rewarded with weather that was just perfect, not too hot, not too cold! Everything was impressively calm when I arrived to capture Emma and her bridesmaids getting ready in the morning; more recently I have been used to a massive ‘Bride Tribe’ so it was actually quite a change and very chilled! Emma’s dress was absolutely beautiful, really pretty detail and when her and her bridesmaids were ready to go they looked amazing.

While all that was happening, my second shooter was busy capturing Joe and his groomsmen adding some finishing touches to the outdoor ceremony area (check out the floating paper birds, they were amazing!) and then they headed back inside to put on their suits in preparation for greeting the guests. The rustic woodland setting was so romantic, and the bridesmaids, Emma and her dad appeared through the trees down the aisle like something out of a fairytale! The ceremony was so pretty, with the sound of nature as background noise and the service itself was really romantic. The happy couple walked down the aisle and were showered with confetti from all angles!

With the weather being so beautiful the guests were able to mingle on the lawns surrounding the venue, with lawn games and plenty of prosecco available! After spending time with their guests, Emma & Joe took advantage of a bit of free time before their wedding breakfast for some couple shots, a bit of breather before the meal and speeches began. The area surrounding the venue was amazing, plenty of scope for different photographs, and definitely somewhere I would like to come back for future weddings to explore further! The guests were all seated by the time they returned and were announced into the room as husband and wife. The food was amazing and after this had been enjoyed by all, Emma’s dad, Joe, bridesmaid and best man all made brilliant speeches. Plenty of humour (loving the shirts for the groomsmen!) and lots of love too! With the evening reception underway, the sky above was just calling me to grab the happy couple for a quick sunset shot – sunsets are my absolute favourite time of the day to shoot and the newlyweds absolutely nailed their couple shots – they look amazing! The light was fading, and so the newlyweds headed back inside to cut their cake and have their first dance to get the party started!

Emma & Joe, I loved having the opportunity to capture Hothorpe Hall wedding photography, and your outdoor woodland wedding was amazing. You two are awesome people and your family and friends are too. Thank you so much for booking me, and I wish you all the happiness in the world.

  1. It was such a pleasure to makeup lovely Emma and her family ready for her wedding day. Emma wanted a relaxed and natural look that made her feel like the best version of herself on her big day. We created Emma’s look using a variety of makeup products. We created glowy skin along with a few mini individual lashes on each eye for extra definition. Hair was a relaxed curl that was pre set in the early morning, then once released little plaits were added at the side and lovely flower pieces added to the middle of the hair design.

These beautiful photos show what looked like a perfect wedding day for Emma and Joe! Im so pleased to see them ! Thanks team Newstead! 🙂
