Stacey & Thom’s amazing day at the Falcon Hotel – Midlands wedding photography

I absolutely LOVED capturing Stacey & Thom’s brilliant day at the end of August – they are such great people, and even though the weather really didn’t play ball particularly, they were determined not to let a bit of rain dampen their spirits! My day started capturing hair and make up for the bridal party, who were so warm and friendly, and full of smiles it really set the tone for how lovely the whole day was going to be! With everyone in high spirits, it made my job very easy capturing moments throughout the morning, and the sense of anticipation increased as they moved from the salon to the venue for final preparations. Meanwhile, my second photographer was capturing the groom and his boys getting ready nearer to the venue, having lots of laughs (and the odd swig from a hipflask!) and were in very good moods, despite the rain! With suits on and shoes fastened they headed out to the venue to add the last minute decorations to the gorgeous venue, the Falcon Hotel in Uppingham.

With the bridesmaids in their gorgeous dresses, it was their job to help Stacey into her wedding dress, which was amazing! It was such a clever design, meaning that she had two options throughout the day of how her dress looked (I’ve really not explained that very well so check the photos out, it’s really stunning!) and then it was time to head to the ceremony room. With all the guests welcomed and ready, Thom had the pleasure of seeing his bride for the first time in her wonderful dress and his face was priceless. The whole marriage ceremony was beautiful and romantic, with personal readings and vows which made many people well with tears. The register was signed and then it was time for Stacey & Thom walked down the aisle as Mr & Mrs Ray!

With the weather still pretty miserable the drinks reception was held inside, making it intimate and actually plenty of opportunities for me to fulfil the couple’s only request “We’re big fans of action shots, (the good, bad and ugly) – so let’s see it all” !! I love capturing guests’ reactions and moments between family and friends, especially at this point in the day of a wedding, so much happiness, celebrations, catching up, just love it! Luckily the rain held for a brief moment so Thom & Stacey were able to head outside and have a breather, reflecting on the day so far, and getting some gorgeous couple shots too. When we returned inside the guests had moved to the room ready for the wedding breakfast (which looked AMAZING!) and when the food was served it certainly looked like everyone enjoyed themselves. The speeches followed, and were so full of good-natured ribbing and teasing, with an equal amount of love and emotion, it was an absolute pleasure to capture the reactions of Thom & Stacey, and all their guests.

Following the meal, Thom & Stacey had organised a ‘Pimp your drink’ station, which was always going to go down well with guests, as well as having a flower wall which provided a gorgeous backdrop for some photos. We also managed to sneak outside for some group shots and further couple shots…I always enjoy the photos after the wedding breakfast, it’s almost as if you can see that all the arrangements have happened, everything has gone to plan and no-one has any more responsibilities so there is a collective letting out of a deep breath and a shift in PARTY mood for all the wedding party! Heading back inside it was time for the cake cutting and first dance and the dance floor was pretty full for the rest of the night. We even managed to head outside for a sparkler shot without getting drenched and the photos from this are amazing.

Stacey & Thom, when I’ve been looking through your wedding photos the thing that strikes me from beginning to end is the smiles! Obviously, you two had massive smiles throughout the whole day but even more than that, all your guests did too, all the wedding party just seemed like they were so happy to be helping you guys get married and there was just so much love for you both from your friends and family – an awesome wedding which left me with a proper warm fuzzy feeling  – a great way to finish the crazy month of August for me! Thank you so much for asking me to capture your wedding day, it was an absolute pleasure, and congratulations on becoming Mr & Mrs Ray!
