Guy & Danni’s stunning day – Shottle Hall wedding photography

What an amazing day. What an amazing couple. What an amazing job I have! Literally this felt like I was at a friend’s wedding; “allowed” rather than “required” to have behind-the-scenes access to take photographs of Guy, Danni and all their awesome family & friends! From start to finish, these guys (Danni!!!) had thought of everything and they went out of their way to make sure that all their guests were having just the best day!

Why do I love shooting Shottle Hall wedding photography? So many reasons! The country house is set in exclusive, stunning grounds overlooking the Ecclesbourne Valley and on days like Guy & Danni’s through the summer, provides just endless scope for beautiful photographs, and also plenty of space for guests to mill around and enjoy the entertainment the couple have put on (drinking hook-a-duck my personal favourite that Guy & Danni set up!) The house itself is just stunning, the ceremony room is impressive yet intimate, and the Orangery restaurant always looks amazing, particularly when the couple (/bride!) have such an eye for detail (I absolutely loved their wooden-carved name places on the tables)  Another reason why I love capturing Shottle Hall wedding photography – the enormous windows everywhere let in so much natural light, especially on such a glorious day as it was on August 25th!

I arrived to find Guy, his dad and a few friends adding some final touches to setting up the venue, then like a well-oiled machine, they left just in time to miss Danni and her bridesmaid’s arrival and allowing them to finish off their bridal party preparations at Shottle Hall.  Danni looked absolutely stunning in her dress – and her veil is the most outrageously long veil I’ve seen outside of a royal wedding. It was just incredible, and made for some amazing photos throughout the day (I love the ones of Danni going down the stairs on her way to the ceremony in particular)

Guy was being the ultimate host, welcoming guests into the ceremony room but I could tell he was getting a bit nervous as the time approached the service. Luckily, Danni didn’t make him wait too long, and both their faces were full of love and emotion as the joined each other at the top of the aisle. They made their vows in front of their friends and family and became Mr & Mrs Draper, looking so gorgeous and happy about it!!! With the formalities out the way, it was time for confetti, garden games and group shots, accompanied by drinks and nibbles.

For the wedding breakfast, Guy & Danni made the decision against the traditional top table, opting to be joined by their best man and maid of honour instead. The food was very well received by everyone and the speeches were hilarious and heartfelt, in equal measure. With evening guests arriving and everyone relaxing after the meal, Guy & Danni took a break from it all and went for a walk around the grounds, for some beautiful couple shots in the sunset before heading back to cut their cake and have their first dance.

OMG the evening party was OFF. THE. HOOK! Honestly, so many shots, dance offs, human pyramids, lifts, and just general crazy dancing – and this was all before the sparkler photos (yes I was a bit scared that Guy and/or Danni would lose their eyebrows during it….at least I didn’t have to worry about MY hair catching alight lol!) Just the best party ever, and thanks to Guy & Danni’s warm and welcoming manner I totally just felt part of it, as one of the guests. Mr & Mrs Draper, you know (I hope!) how much I love you two, your wedding day was amazing, you two are just absolutely made for each other, and I feel privileged to have been there to witness you becoming husband and wife. Stay in touch please (and not just so I can beat Guy at golf every now and again!!!) Congrats a million!!!!!
